Microphone permission denied
If MeetingDebrief cannot access your microphone, check your system permissions:
- macOS: open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, select Microphone, and confirm MeetingDebrief is listed and enabled.
- Windows: open Settings, go to Privacy, select Microphone, and confirm the app has access.
If the app does not appear in the list, re-run the setup wizard from Settings to trigger the permission request again.
Screen recording permission (macOS)
System audio capture on macOS requires screen recording permission. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, select Screen Recording, and confirm MeetingDebrief is listed and enabled. You may need to restart the app after granting this permission.
No audio detected
If recordings produce silence or very low audio:
- Verify the correct input device is selected in Settings.
- Check that your microphone is not muted at the system level.
- Try a different audio input device.
- Close other applications that may be using the microphone exclusively.
Model download fails
Model downloads require a stable internet connection. If a download fails:
- Check your internet connection.
- Confirm that firewall or antivirus software is not blocking MeetingDebrief.
- Retry the download from the models section in Settings.
- If the problem persists, re-run the setup wizard to start the download process from the beginning.
Transcription is slow
Transcription speed depends on your hardware and the selected Whisper model size. To speed up transcription:
- Switch to a smaller Whisper model in Settings.
- Close resource-heavy applications during transcription.
- On macOS, Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) provides significantly faster transcription than Intel processors.
Re-running the setup wizard
If multiple issues persist, re-run the setup wizard from Settings. This walks you through permissions and model configuration again without affecting your existing sessions or data.
